What We Do

Build. Maintain. Protect. Preserve. Partner.

Our Vision

Imagine a 331-mile-long uninterrupted hiking trail from the Mason-Dixon Line to the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. Linking points of natural beauty, cultural, economic, and historical significance as it meanders through many counties in Virginia and West Virginia. Traversing unspoiled wilderness and connecting many historic towns, national forests, state forests, and state parks.

• A trail with a permanently protected route, off the roads and into the woods.

• A trail with the facilities to support day, section, and thru-hikers.

• A trail under the stewardship and management of the WVSTA & its partners.
